The Inevitable

I watch them dry
Out of focus eyes
Forgetting the sting
Or the need to blink

Does it slowly fade?
The ink of the scene
Of a motionless dream?

Yet we still see
After the rhythm dies
Out of focus eyes
Are you still with me?

This terror won't leave
Surfacing from beneath
In little bursts and waves
And why must this be
The forever unsolved mystery?
